![]() ![]() As soon as I got my Genesis, I got a Power Base Converter and a copy of Wonderboy, a couple of years later Twin Cobra was brought to the Genesis, although it never seemed quite as fun as playing it on an arcade cabinet and seemed slightly different, then I was really hoping that Gyruss would somehow make it's way to the Genesis as this was without question my favorite video game of all time, I had wanted to own Gyruss since I was nine or ten years old and even wrote a letter to Milton Bradley in 1983 or '84 asking them to make a version of Gyruss for the Vectrex, but I never got a response. I had three all time favorite arcade games by the time I got my Genesis. ![]() So, either it takes a hit, or it needs the Dreamcast at the least. The PS1 can barely do Captain Commando, with lots of slowdown on the 4 player mode (unlockable by a cheat code), so I'm not sure if can do a 1:1 port of DM2 either, not even the Saturn. In my opinion, the neogeo falls short even to move a game like Streets of Rage 2. the NG hardware is not suitable for arcade beat'em ups, a lot of the sprite processing goes into drawing the backgrounds and very little is left for character sprites, that's why all of the beat'em on the system only have 3-4 enemies onscreen at once max, and that's because the Neogeo have 0 background layers in hardware, it has to do everything using tiles/sprites, even the Megadrive has 2 background layers in hardware, and it can show nice backgrounds without wasting sprite count then there's the issue with resolution, most of the Neogeo game library runs at 312x224, while the Megadrive does 320x224 in most of its games. I'm not sure if the Neogeo can handle that game, I mean a 1:1 port, see. I'd imagine any of the single screen platformers(what I was calling "bubble bobble types" before) would go well on the Genesis. I feel like most beat 'em up around '92+ would need a 5th Generation console for a good port. ![]() Warrior Blade: Rastan Saga Episode III (if you don't care for Golden Axe III, you'd be able to consider this the spiritual sequel the Genesis should have gotten) Vendetta(doesn't look like it'd need much of a graphical downgrade) Rohga Armor Force(just looks Genesis-ish) Ninja Baseball Batman (greater chance it would have been localized on the Genesis than SNES) At least the Genesis would have something really unique. Surprised it didn't get a Master System release)īoth arcade Mega Man games. Kicker (different kind of brawler/Bubble Bobble type mix, by Konami) Kamikaze Cabbie (could have probably been done on the NES or Master System to decent effect, but unique enough to feel more at home on the Genesis) Gun Master (kind of an early arena fighter by a development studio called Metro) The only thing in most cases is, how much of an issue is the Genesis' limited color display going to be for a conversion?Īvenging Spirit(considering the only other port was to the Game Boy.)īattletoads: The Arcade Game (since it already has one just called "battletoads")īoogie Wings (unique shoot 'em up with graphics so small, it might have even run well on the SNES)Ĭadillacs and Dinosaurs (as long as the team that ports it does a better job than the one that did Punisher)Ĭhina Gate (brawler/Bubble Bobble mix by Technos)ĭragon Breed (like the Genesis needed more shoot 'em ups, come to think of it.) ![]()
